Yohualli B. Anaya, MD, MPH Named Deputy Editor

Yohualli B. Anaya, MD, MPH has been named deputy editor for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for Family Medicine. In this leadership role she will provide insight and expertise to the editorial team and advise and collaborate with the editor-in-chief and editorial board on related issues, policies, and best practices. In doing so, she will help advance the overall mission of the journal.  

Anaya is a primary care physician researcher who teaches medical students and residents. Her research interest is in health care accessibility and spans Latinx and immigrant health, workforce, policy, and telehealth. Through her work, she focuses on the application of research to promote policies and programs that address health care equity.  In 2022, she was selected as a University of Wisconsin–Madison Centennial Scholars and Clinicians Program awardee. In 2024, Anaya was an NIH National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities Health Disparities Research Institute Scholar in Washington, DC. She is also a 2024-2026 National Academy of Medicine Fellow to Advance State Health Policy and a member of the UW Health ACO Board of Directors.

Family Medicine aims to publish high-quality original scholarship about education in family medicine and primary care. It is an official journal of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
