Two Faculty Receive WMAA Alumni Awards

Two University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health faculty are recipients of the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association’s 2026 Alumni Awards.

Jonathan L. Temte, MD, PhD, received a Medical Alumni Citation – Distinguished Alumni Award honoring his achievement of distinction in medicine through excellence in the practice of medicine, academic activities, and research. Temte was recognized for his national impact on influenza research and leadership roles with the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Paul H. Hunter, MD, received a Ralph Hawley Distinguished Community Service Award honoring his outstanding contributions to the community through medical practice and teaching. Hunter was recognized for his compassion as a physician, improving rural health, and inspiring learners.

The Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association was founded in 1956 and creates lasting relationships within a network of over 8,000 medical students and alumni of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
