DFMCH Delivers Top-Rated Clinical Training

The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health delivers top-rated clinical training according to the 2026 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Graduation Questionnaire for the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

  • 97% of graduating medical students rated their family medicine clinical training experience as good or excellent
  • More students rated family medicine as good or excellent than any other specialty
  • The department is in the top 25% for medical student education experience in the United States

“The high marks we receive can be directly attributed to the family medicine faculty who excel as clinician educators,” said David Rakel, MD, department chair. “Our students appreciate the time and expertise our faculty devote to their education.”

The AAMC Medical School Graduation Questionnaire was first administered in 1978. Medical schools use the national questionnaire in program evaluation and improving the medical student experience. Questions cover several topics including clinical experiences, readiness for residency, student services, strengths of the medical school, and opportunities for improvement.
