
PROTEA Team
Randall Brown, MD, PhD, DFASAM, leads the Program for Research, Outreach, Therapeutics, and Education in the Addictions (PROTEA). Throughout his career, Brown has maintained a passion for serving people marginalized by society. He has focused specifically on enhancing prevention and treatment services for people who use drugs and who use alcohol in unhealthy ways. Brown sees patients, teaches health professionals, and conducts research in this area.
Brown founded the University of Wisconsin’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program and a number of innovative multi-disciplinary clinical services. He has conducted and collaborated on numerous research studies that aim to improve health care and community-based services to people who use.
