Bio
Matthew Waldrop, MD, is a family physician and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician with interests in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, medical education, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is passionate about helping patients of all ages remain active while advancing the education of future physicians.
In addition to caring for patients, he serves as a team physician for Wisconsin Athletics and is actively involved in resident and fellow education, curriculum development, and national sports medicine initiatives.
His scholarly work has focused on sports injury epidemiology, injury prevention, and musculoskeletal ultrasound, and he has received recognition for his research and educational contributions.
Clinical Interests
Waldrop’s clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, injury prevention, and the role of physical activity in promoting lifelong health. He enjoys caring for patients of all ages and activity levels and helping them safely return to the activities that are important to them.
Teaching Interests
Waldrop enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is passionate about helping learners develop the knowledge and skills needed to care for active patients across a variety of clinical settings.
Scholarly Interests
Waldrop’s scholarly interests focus on advancing evidence-based musculoskeletal and sports medicine through clinical research, medical education, and collaborative interdisciplinary care. His work includes sports injury epidemiology, musculoskeletal ultrasound, injury prevention, and improving educational resources for learners in sports medicine and primary care.
