Bio
Lashika Yogendran, MD, MS, provides care for patients of all ages, including prenatal care and management of chronic health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease and heart failure. She provides full-spectrum care in family medicine, serving inpatient medicine, obstetrics, and outpatient clinic.
Yogendran is an associate program director of the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Family Medicine Residency Program. She works with residents directly in residency education and in administration managing the residency program.
Yogendran was drawn to family medicine because it allows her the opportunity to care for diverse types of patients and to provide care across the lifespan. She enjoys getting to know her patients, establishing long-term relationships and helping them become the best versions of themselves. She enjoys working in academia and residency education; an area of her academic interest is working with the struggling medical learner.
Clinical Interests
Yogendran enjoys working in the primary care setting as well as inpatient medicine and providing obstetrical care. She has specific interest in women’s health and shared decision-making surrounding cancer screenings.
Teaching Interests
Yogendran is core faculty and associate program director for the family medicine residency program. She enjoys mentoring and providing support for residents, as well as focused coaching in the areas of clinical efficiency, agenda setting in the clinic visit, and notes completion.
Scholarly Interests
Yogendran’s scholarly interests include resident remediation, support in residency, shared decision-making in colorectal cancer screening, and health equity.
