Bio

Helia Gagnon, MD, joined DFMCH in 2026 as a resident. She chose to pursue family medicine because of the specialty’s holistic, patient-centered approach. She wants to care for patients at every stage of their life and to establish long-lasting, trusting relationships with them. She plans to practice full-spectrum family medicine with interest in women’s health, prenatal care and obstetrics, addiction medicine, mental health, and procedures.

Gagnon is the former director of administration for the University of Wisconsin MEDiC student-run free clinic and a co-founder of the First-Generation and Low-Income Student Alliance, which supports medical students. These experiences, along with other volunteer opportunities, have given her firsthand insight into the challenges and rewards of delivering care with limited resources and have strengthened her understanding of resource-conscious clinical practice.

Gagnon enjoys playing board games with friends, watching movies, completing paint-by-numbers and diamond art, and playing with her cats.
