Bio
Andrew Quanbeck, PhD (he/him/his) is DFMCH faculty and an honorary associate of the University of Wisonsin Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering. Quanbeck heads the Implementation Science and Engineering Lab at UW-Madison. His research draws upon concepts from systems engineering to develop innovative approaches to implementing evidence-based practices.
Quanbeck is chair of the Osher Center for Integrative Health at University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Collaborative Research Committee and a member of the editorial board of the journal Implementation Research and Practice and the journal Nature Scientific Reports. He is also a former standing member of the National Institutes of Health’s Science of Implementation in Health and Healthcare study section (2020-2024).
Research Interests
Quanbeck’s research draws upon concepts from systems engineering to develop innovative approaches to implementing evidence-based practices, with a specific focus on implementation of evidence-based practices and technologies for the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders in medical care settings. The innovative approaches to implementation Quanbeck developed have been evaluated in multiple NIH-funded trials and have led directly to health improvements for patients suffering from addiction. He is currently principal investigator on four NIH-funded R01s that use innovative systems engineering approaches to promote the implementation of evidence-based interventions for the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders.
