Bio
Alyssa Coley, MD, joined DFMCH in 2026 as a resident. She is interested in obstetric care, behavioral health, and providing full-spectrum care to underserved communities. She is particularly interested in caring for patients through pregnancy and building lasting relationships with families over time. She was drawn to family medicine by its unique ability to integrate comprehensive medical care, mental health, and community advocacy within long-term patient relationships.
Prior to medical school, Coley worked as an ophthalmic technician, where she discovered the value of continuity of care and the impact that thoughtful medical care can have on patients’ daily lives. Her experience volunteering as a crisis management counselor sparked her interest in integrating mental health care into the primary care setting, where established patient relationships can foster trust, connection, and support. Coley’s commitment to community-centered care was further shaped through service at Clínica Esperanza, a student-run clinic serving uninsured Spanish-speaking patients in Memphis, and through organizing community fundraising initiatives that expanded access to vision care.
Coley enjoys knitting and crocheting, event planning, indoor cycling, reading fantasy novels, watching reality competition shows, and spending time with her dog.
