Congratulations to Samantha Busch (Medical Student) on being awarded a 2025 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Foundation Student Scholarship. This highly competitive scholarship is awarded to medical students across the country in recognition of their strong commitment to academic family medicine and potential for a career in family medicine as demonstrated through scholastic, volunteer, and leadership pursuits. Only 20 scholarships were awarded for 2025.
“The 2025 Medical Student Education Steering Committee congratulates Samantha Busch and UW School of Medicine and Public Health,” says Afolake Mobolaji, MD, MPH, chair of the 2025 STFM Conference on Medical School Education. Busch will receive free registration to attend the conference and present a poster in San Antonio, TX from January 30 to February 2, 2025.
Though early in her family medicine journey, Busch has already made an impact in family medicine as a 2023 McGovern-Tracy Scholar, a 2024 Robert F. and Irma K. Korbitz Endowed Scholarship recipient, and a 2024 Pisacano Scholar.
Mark Beamsley, MD, director of the Office of Medical Student Education, shared more about Busch’s contributions. “Sam has been an incredible leader since day one. As a new family medicine interest group (FMIG) student leader in her first year at UW’s medical school, she stood out for her vision and dedication. She was the driving force to develop and deliver multiple events for her fellow students over the last four years so they can learn more about the scope of family medicine. Sam has effectively taken on increasing leadership roles, most recently as a student member of the STFM Board. We have been very fortunate to have her involved with us these last four years and are confident she will be a guiding force in family medicine training and leadership in the future.”
STFM is a national community of academic leaders committed to developing a family medicine workforce prepared to serve as the foundation of America’s health care system. STFM members include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, behavioral health specialists, researchers, nurses, health system executives, administrators, fellows, residents, students, and others involved in the education of family physicians.
