The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (UW DFMCH) is a national leader in family medicine education. Our residency program was one of the original 15 family medicine residency programs in the nation.
We educate medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistants and faculty to provide much-needed primary care for the people of Wisconsin and beyond. Our programs comprise:
- Outstanding family medicine residency programs (DFMCH-sponsored and academic partner) in eight cities and rural sites in Wisconsin;
- Clinical and research fellowship programs to help family physicians and PhD scientists reach their career goals;
- A comprehensive Office of Medical Student Education, which supports students through all four years of medical school through courses, statewide educational experiences and special -interest programs;
- Robust faculty development opportunities at the departmental and institutional levels.
