Bio

Joel E. Gordon, MD (he/him/his) currently serves as the chief medical information officer at UW Health. This role aligns with his passion for advancing key areas such as innovation diffusion, provider wellness, and organizational efficiency. As a board-certified family practice physician of thirty years, Gordon enjoys his clinical work within the float pool assisting the family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics departments. Working across departments gives him the joy of working with patients as well as a sightline towards the unique workflows and realities that exist across the organization.

In 2023, Gordon made the decision to leave Mayo Clinic and relocate to Madison, Wisconsin, positioning himself at the nexus of informatics and in immediate proximity to Epic. Embracing membership in a dynamic medical informatics group that concentrates on the tripartite realms of informatics influence—namely clinical, academic, and research—has afforded Gordon immense satisfaction.
