Congratulations to Yohualli B. Anaya, MD, MPH (Associate Professor, CHS) on being named the 2024 National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Fellow to Advance State Health Policy. Anaya will have the opportunity “to experience and participate in evidence-based health care or public health studies that improve the care and access to care of patients in domestic and global health care systems” during this two-year fellowship. Anaya was chosen based on her professional qualifications, accomplishments, and expertise relevant to the work of NAM and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

“I am delighted to welcome these exceptional health science scholars into the NAM Fellowship program,” said National Academy of Medicine President Victor J. Dzau. “The fellows will play an active role in our process of developing comprehensive policy solutions to provide health advice to the nation and globally and will gain access to a network of mentors to support them throughout their careers.”

The National Academy of Medicine, established in 1970 as the Institute of Medicine, is an independent organization of eminent professionals from diverse fields including health and medicine, the natural, social, and behavioral sciences, and beyond. It serves alongside the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering as an adviser to the nation and the international community. Through its domestic and global initiatives, the NAM works to address critical issues in health, medicine, and related policy and inspire positive action across sectors. The NAM collaborates closely with its peer academies and other divisions within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
