Mary Thompson, MD
Congratulations to Mary Thompson, MD, for receiving a Katcher-Schlach Award for her work as co-medical director of a MEDiC Clinic at the Salvation Army in Madison. MEDiC is a student-led organization that runs four free health clinics, and partners with three other free clinics, throughout the Madison area. Student leaders nominate two physicians each year for the awards, named for Drs. Murray Katcher and Don Schlach who volunteered for many years with MEDiC and served as directors of the Salvation Army location.
According to her students, Thompson inspires learners at all stages of their training and is passionate about her care of the homeless women who comprise the patient population at the clinic.
“I have had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Thompson and have been consistently impressed by her unwavering commitment, passion, and exceptional skills in caring for underserved patients,” shares one of the student clinic coordinators. “She is dedicated to ensuring each patient receives the highest quality of care, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.”
