Kissel has spent most of his career working as a physician in a variety of primary care and acute care settings where he developed a special interest in helping the elderly. He appreciates that their needs go beyond what he can deliver in a clinical setting, leading him to explore community resources with a particular emphasis on promoting independence. Kissel discovered Sharing Active Independent Living (SAIL) where he volunteers. He finds the combination of clinical care and community care personally satisfying.
