Evan Nolander advocates for the health of his patients and community by learning and telling patients’ stories. His own story began in Albert Lea, MN, where Evan was born and raised; he earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Evan then moved to Boulder, CO to serve in the AmeriCorps where he learned the importance of community activism and patient empowerment. He attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. While there, he served as the president of KCU’s Missouri Osteopathic Student Association. As a member of the Executive Board for the Diversity Learning Series, Evan introduced his peers to his areas of interest: economically and racially underserved populations and LGBTQ healthcare. Evan is committed to community medicine with a focus on the role of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in U.S. healthcare and is completing his residency in Family Medicine to be on the front lines of change. When Evan is not advocating for patients, he can be found travelling, backpacking, camping, or snowboarding. He also enjoys attending concerts, playing music, spending time with his family, and enjoying a meal with his fiancé.
