National Research Service Award (NRSA) Project Director Meeting
In a collaborative effort to enhance research training and foster community connections, the T32 Primary Care Research Fellows and Associate Program Director, Dr. Elizabeth Cox, participated in the NRSA Annual Project Director Meeting. Held at Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) headquarters in Rockville, MD, this gathering provided a platform for discussing strategies related to fellow recruitment, retention, career development, and mentorship. The meeting also highlighted the impact of fellow research on primary care. Dr. Asma Ali, a third-year Primary Care Research Fellow, delivered an insightful talk titled “Unearthing Implicit Beliefs: Beyond Symptoms in Social Determinates of Health.” Additionally, Dr. Ali moderated a group discussion on achieving work-life harmony and balance.
AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting
Following the Project Director Meeting, the DFMCH fellows and leadership traveled to Baltimore, MD, to participate in the 2024 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting. This national conference focused on cutting-edge investigations in health services research (HSR) and health policy. All five T32 Primary Care Research Fellows engaged in conference events, networking with fellow researchers from across the country. Dr. David Mallinson, another third-year Primary Care Research Fellow, showcased his research through a poster presentation titled “Racial and Geographic Variation in the Impact of Prenatal Care Coordination on Adverse Birth Outcomes.”
These events provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and advancing research in primary care. The DFMCH team remains committed to driving impactful discoveries and improving health care outcomes.
