Edmond Ramly, PhD
Congratulations to Edmond Ramly, PhD (Assistant Professor, Tenure Track) on being awarded a five-year federal grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to conduct a research project titled “Adapting Guideline Implementation to Local Environments (AGILE) in Primary Care After Telehealth Expansion.”
This project will address uneven implementation of evidence-based cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention guidelines that would prevent more than 50% of annual deaths in middle-aged US adults. Urgent expansion of telehealth due to the COVID-19 pandemic brings rapid changes in primary care visit patterns, posing new barriers to already uneven implementation. This project proposes an alternative design adapted from engineering to develop and pilot a configurable toolkit that can potentially increase guideline adherence through selection of implementation strategies matched to local barriers.
Partners on this grant include the Wisconsin Research and Education Network (WREN) and the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ). Dr. Ramly will be joined by mentors Maureen Smith, MD, PhD, MPH; Linsey Steege, PhD; and Jon Temte, MD, PhD, as well as collaborators including Pascale Carayon, PhD; David Gustafson, PhD; Christie Bartels, MD, MS; and Roger Brown, PhD.
